Indigenous-led

Claims are checked against public, verifiable evidence.
No paid placements
We do not sell ranking, placement or authenticity.
The Rimurimu Framework
Heritage → Beacon → Alignment → Pathway. Stewardship is the standard.
Heritage
Centres First Nations, Māori and Pasifika businesses whose practices are grounded in relationships with Country, whenua, moana, community and intergenerational knowledge. Heritage is not a lesser form of certification. Indigenous identity and cultural authority are inherent — not credentials we grant.
Beacon
Makes recognised third-party evidence visible. If you hold a certification, we link to the issuing organisation’s official record and explain what that certification covers.
Alignment
Recognises businesses showing a clear, consistent connection between claims, practices and wider impact — certifications, transparent policies, sourcing information, measurable action.
Pathway
Supports Indigenous businesses choosing to work toward a relevant formal certification for a particular opportunity — without implying existing cultural practice is incomplete.

Questions, answered
- Who can apply?
- Businesses of every background that can describe their sustainability, ethics and stewardship practices clearly and honestly. We especially centre First Nations, Māori and Pasifika businesses, including small and community-grounded enterprises.
- Do I need formal certification?
- No. Certification is welcome, not the price of belonging. For First Nations, Māori and Pasifika businesses whose practices are grounded in community, place and lived knowledge, we ask you to describe specific public practices, ingredients, sourcing, making methods or community benefit — without reducing culture to a badge.
- What happens to my certification links?
- Rimurimu checks the issuing organisation’s record and explains the certification’s scope on your public evidence record.
- Do I have to share cultural information?
- Only what you are comfortable sharing publicly. Your cultural, community or place information stays yours to choose.
- Does listing cost money or can I pay to rank higher?
- No. Rimurimu does not sell verification, cultural authenticity or preferential directory placement.
